Chaikhana’s experience in Kyrgyzstan: economic and environmentally friendly ventilation and air conditioning system

For the restaurants and cafes, it is quite vital to have a good ventilation system that complies with sanitary norms and keeps an optimal microclimate for the guests.

Private entrepreneur M.Osmonova is the owner of chaikhana in Bishkek, who invests in providing comfort and maintaining the required sanitary standards. She has already installed efficient ventilation and air conditioning systems.

The building is equipped with a centralized multi-zone air conditioning system -chiller and fan coil unit. It consists of a single source of “cold” - a chiller, which delivers the air to a number of air coolers through intermediate coolant (liquid) to fan coil units.

The environment friendly air conditioning system is eco-friendly, easy to operate, and it also offers an automatic control of indoor air parameters. The system is used both for cooling and heating purposes. The system also produces 2.5-3 times more energy than it consumes.

The building also has an integrated ventilation system with heat recovery, which allows significant energy saving on air circulation. The heat recuperator partially recovers the heat energy from exhaust air streams by transferring it to supply air streams. The heat returns to the building and is not expelled to the atmosphere. The reverse process occurs in summertime, when outflowing cold air streams cool the warm air inflow from outside of the building. To avoid operational losses, all air ducts should be insulated with special mineral woolen material.

BENEFIT

This ventilation and air conditioning system allowed the chaikhana owner to reduce energy consumption by 51% and have annual energy savings around149 MWh. The reduction in energy consumption resulted in 15 tons less of CO2 emissions per year, which is also very important for the environment.
